Biography

Arjun Choudhuri is a poet and a translator from North East India. He lives in Silchar,  Assam and is working for his doctoral dissertation on multiethnic American literature and cultural memory studies.

Arjun’s first book of poetry titled In the House Next Door was published in 2006 from Writers Workshop, Kolkata by Prof. P. Lal whose essays on poetry were among the primary motivations behind Arjun’s preliminary forays into the realm of English poetry. Since 2006, Arjun has successfully produced a significant count of poetry collections, as well as works in other genres too, with  both national and international publishers.

Arjun is a regular contributor to journals and poetry magazines in India as well as in the USA, the UK and other countries in South East Asia. He was awarded the annual Kavyanandan Award in December 2010 by Suranandan Bharati, Kolkata for his book Bordering Poetry which is an anthology of English translations of Bengali poetry from the state of Assam.
